Candle Safety Guide

How to Burn Your Candles Safely

At GlowWorthyMoments, we want you to enjoy your candles while keeping safety a top priority. Follow these guidelines to ensure a clean, long-lasting burn and prevent accidents.

Before Lighting

Trim the wick to ¼ inch (cotton wick) or 1/8"–3/16" (wood wick) before each use.
Use a proper candle holder—heat-resistant, sturdy, and large enough to catch drips.
Keep the wax pool clear of wick trimmings, matches, or debris.
Avoid drafts—burn in a well-ventilated area away from fans, vents, or open windows.
Never burn longer than 3 hours—let the candle cool for at least 2 hours before relighting.
Use long-reach lighters/matches and keep hair & loose clothing away from the flame.

While Burning - Important Safety Rules

Never leave a burning candle unattended.
Keep away from flammable items—curtains, bedding, books, etc.
Place out of reach of children & pets—ensure it can’t be knocked over.
Don’t move a lit candle—wait until wax hardens before handling.
Maintain space—keep candles at least 12 inches apart from each other.
Stop burning at ½ inch of wax left (containers) or 2 inches (pillars).
Extinguish if the flame flickers excessively or gets too high—trim the wick before relighting.
Never burn while sleeping or during power outages—use flashlights instead.

Extinguishing Your Candle

Use a candle snuffer—prevents wax splatter.
Never blow out or use water—this can splatter hot wax or crack glass.
Ensure the wick ember stops glowing before leaving the room.
Let the candle cool completely before moving or touching.
Avoid scraping wax from glass—sharp objects can weaken the container.

Emergency Tip

If wax catches fire, smother the flame with a metal lid or damp clothnever use water!
